After graduating high school, and with my trusty hammer
and saw in hand I began employment as a carpenter learning
the trade of how to build a home as we would say, from
the bottom up. I worked under the tutelage of Sol
Urbach and Sy Reimer who owned the Reimer & Urbac Construction
Company,
building homes in the Flemington, NJ area.
After 5 years of learning every phase of
building a home, I began my own business with Sol and
Sy's approval and guidance.
I worked with many architects
in the local Flemington area building additions, complete
homes and even commercial work in the surrounding area for
over 20 years.
In 1979 I began receiving calls from attorneys who
had problems with items in a home that needed an experts
opinion about a repair when closing on a home a client
was purchasing. After 6 months of doing this for free I began my
own home inspection business on a part time basis and then at the
end of 1979 I dissolved my construction business and in January
1980 I began Hunterdon Home Inspection Service and have never looked
back.
It is a wonderful feeling
helping many a young couple purchase their first home and looking
for items that would be a costly repair bill if we did not conduct
an inspection.
As long as a client owns their home that we originally
inspected we offer that client a lifetime free consultation
service. If they would like to build an addition or
remodel the home they have purchased but are not sure
which way to turn they call us and we offer them free
advice on how to proceed with the project.
In 2004 the
State of New Jersey required that a home inspector
obtain a state license and in June 2004 I obtained
my state license. We are licensed and insured to conduct
inspections for a complete home, townhouse or condominium
and all of its components, onsite wastewater management
inspections, termite inspections, mold/mildew inspections
and samplings and radon testing.
